A year after Bishop Eddie Long was accused of sexual misconduct by former church members, the Lithonia, Georgia megachurch pastor is getting closer to divorce and stepping away from the pulpit, according to Yahoo! News.
After about a 25 year reign, the bishop said that he was stepping down from New Birth Missionary Baptist Church to focus on his family. The church that once had 25,000 members now has to face a tarnished reputation and dwindling membership due to the sex scandal.
With the major blows the once populous megachurch has taken, the future of the church is uncertain, even with Long stepping down.
