Seventeen greater Washington area first Ladies were honored today for outstanding work in their communities at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland.
The first annual First Ladies Tea Awards also recognized NBC-4 News Anchor and Elder at the Ark of Safety Church Pat Lawson Muse with the Catherine L. Hughes Special Award presentation by Founder and Chairperson of Radio One, Inc. Cathy Hughes. The brunch featured invocation by Pastor Eleanor Doom of Southern Baptist Praise & Worship Center; musical performances by Maria Jenkins, Jekalyn Carr and keynote speaker, First Lady Lisa Page-Brooks.
Crown Princess Hats provided the five hundred plus guests with a hat show and Furs by Gartenhaus gave away a mink stole. The Washington Regional Transplant Community was the presenting sponsor for the event. Additional sponsors for award ceremony include Tabu Creations; Mary Kay; Miles-Beamon Jewelry; Butterfly Expression and Marriage Alliance.
