Monday, Sanford Police released a new photo taken of George Zimmerman on the night of his confrontation with Trayvon Martin; Zimmerman’s defense team released the photo in court Monday. The photo was taken on Feb. 26 after Trayvon Martin was killed by Zimmerman. The photo shows the bloody and bruised face of Zimmerman. Zimmerman’s trial is scheduled for next June; he is facing second-degree murder charges in Trayvon Martin’s death. Zimmerman claimed that on neighborhood patrol that night and he acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin. The state of Florida has a “Stand Your Ground” law and this case tests that law. Zimmerman’s defense attorney Mark O’Mara said they were originally given the photo in black and white from the Sanford Police department. An attorney for the Martin family, Ben Crump believes that Zimmerman should not have involved himself on the night of the incident and that Martin should have defended himself from Zimmerman
