Former District of Columbia Mayor Marion Barry has been hospitalized.

Barry’s spokeswoman, LaToya Foster, says the 78-year-old former four-term mayor was admitted to Howard University Hospital on Thursday evening and is resting comfortably.

Foster says she doesn’t know about any specific ailments. She says Barry just wasn’t feeling well.

Barry had a serious blood infection earlier this year and endured two lengthy hospital stays. He suffers from diabetes and has a transplanted kidney. He’s also a prostate cancer survivor.

Barry is the District’s longest-serving mayor, earning the nickname “mayor for life.” He’s currently a D.C. Council member.
