At the Southeast Tennis & Learning Center, Camp SETUP offers summer fun and much more to kids in Southeast Washington DC. For six weeks, they experience the thrill of tackling new challenges, from computers to tennis. They discover that reading and math can be fun. They grow strong and fit. And they venture beyond their familiar neighborhoods to explore all that the city has to offer, including museums, cultural events and historic sites. Best of all, by summer’s end, they’re equipped with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in school.

Sadly, cuts in city funding are limiting the number of children that can attend Camp SETUP this year, leaving many kids with little to do. But you can help by donating to the Recreation Wish List Committee and sponsoring a child to attend Camp SETUP. A gift of $200 will send a kid to camp for a week, and $1,000 will give a child up to six weeks of fun-filled learning. To learn more about Camp SETUP or to sponsor a child, visit recreationwishlist.org

Charles Butler & Trinity have been selected as one of the Top 10 unsigned gospel artists who will appear on the “Jawn Murray Presents: UNTAPPED” compilation CD. The selection was announced by EMI Gospel. The group are now finalists with a chance to win the grand prize: a recording contract with EMI. Their winning song, “You Shall Live” was written by James “Jimmy” Johnson and the music was produced by Chris Forbes.

Charles Butler & Trinity are well known in the Washington, DC area. The group infuses urban and contemporary gospel music. They are one of the most sought after independent gospel groups on the East Coast. It is not unusual to see the group on Bobby Jones Gospel, TBN or a variety of venues in the DC area backing up many of gospel’s biggest artists. GME spoke with Charles about the groups’ enormous win: “First, I am honored and humbled to be a part of this wonderful opportunity.”
