Three ZIP codes in the District of Columbia are among 25 identified in a new report as having the biggest jump in its white population over the past decade. The report, published by Michael J. Petrilli of the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, identifies three areas of D.C. – ZIP codes 20001, 20010 and 20005 – as what he calls the 10th, 14th and 19th fastest gentrifying neighborhoods in America. Petrilli’s numbers are based off of 2010 U.S. Census Bureau data and measure how much the white share of a ZIP code’s population has increased from 2000 to 2010.

The neighborhoods that the D.C. ZIP codes represent include:

20001 – Parts of Shaw, LeDroit Park and Bloomingdale
20010 – Parts of Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant
20005 – Parts of Downtown D.C. and Logan Circle
