Lisa Page Brooks pushed Marvin Sapp’s “The Best in Me” out of the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart in 2010 with her monster #1 smash,  “I Wanna Say Thank You” and now she’s back on the scene with another intoxicating hit, “Better Than Life.” The song is currently #31 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart and the lead single from Page’s forthcoming CD “Better Than Life” that will be released on Habakkuk Music on February 5, 2013.

The Motor City native will perform the song live Friday, November 9th on the big unveiling of The Word Network’s new state of the art television production facility. She’ll be performing on the cable channel’s flagship primetime program, “Rejoice in the Word” that airs @8:30-10:00 p.m. est. The song is special to Brooks because her daughter Sasha created the vocal arrangement and her son Justin produced it under the supervision of her husband, Michael Brooks, an original member of the legendary gospel funk band, Commissioned.

“I was on a red eye and I was just sitting on the plane thinking about the scripture in Psalm 63,” she says. “The whole melody and everything came to me and I started singing it and I took it back home and I told my husband I’ve got a song and he looked at me sort of strange and I said, ` no, really. I’m serious.’” She taught it to the praise team at the church she and her husband pastor. “Our praise team is the testing ground. The Lord really blessed the people with that small melody and when we got in the studio my husband just embellished it. I’m so proud of that song.”

It’s not just a song but also a declaration of health and spiritual well being for the raspy-voiced alto. “Once I turned 40 I changed my eating habits,” Brooks confesses. “I was doing quite a few plays in my late `30s and I was feeling sort of sluggish. I was traveling a lot and eating on the road. I stopped eating beef – steaks and hamburgers. I cut it out altogether. Then when I turned 40, I cut back on the junk food and stopped drinking soda pop. I now exercise, take my vitamins and get regular doctor check ups. So, life is very good and I’m happy to be alive.”
