Event Title: Creatively Making a World of Difference: African American Innovators and Entrepreneurs

 Event Date: March 1-March 31

 Host: Presented by The Museum for Black Innovation and Entrepreneurship

 Event Details: This live exhibit celebrates the spirit of renowned and lesser-known contemporary and historical African Americans through exhibits, lectures, and discussions from March 1-31 2013.  Meet and talk with exemplary entrepreneurs and innovators from Wards 7 and 8 during the week, with one-hour lectures and discussion sessions every Saturday (except the 16th): 11 AM- Noon; 1 to 2 PM; and 3 to 4 PM. Attend all Saturday lectures on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the month of March and receive a certification of completion.

A special Highlights Exhibit and Reception for Innovators and Entrepreneurs will take place from 2:00-5:00 PM on Saturday, March 16th 2013. Network with area professionals while enjoying music by Harpist, Victoria Payton-Webber. All are invited to attend. Keynote speakers include:

 3) Radio One DC Saluting Leon Harris (WJLA-TV) & JC Hayward (WUSA-TV) For Journalism Excellence

 Washington, DC – Radio One of Washington, DC will honor local newsmakers Leon Harris-Anchor of WJLA TV-7 and JC Hayward-Anchor of WUSA TV-9 at the 2013 Radio One DC Media Appreciation Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, 12:00 pm to 1:30p.

 “Each year, we acknowledge local newsmakers who have exemplified outstanding journalism and excellence in community service. They have achieved that and so much more,” said Chris Wegmann, Radio One Regional Vice President/DC Market Manager.

 Last year, Radio One saluted Tony Perkins/Morning Anchor of Fox-5 and Aisha Karimah/Community Affairs Director of NBC-4. It was a tremendous success! This year’s invited guests include Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley; Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett; Prince Georges County Executive Rushern Baker and numerous other top national, local and state leaders.

 About Leon: Award-winning journalist Leon Harris anchors the 5:00 pm and 11:00 pm newscasts for ABC-7/WJLA-TV. He came to Washington after 20 years at CNN’s Atlanta Headquarters, where he co-anchored CNN Live Today and Prime News, and hosted CNN Presents and American Stories.

 About JC Hayward: JC Hayward is a renowned female anchor in the Washington, DC area. As the DC market’s first female anchor, she is now celebrating 40 years as an anchor at WUSA9 and was recently inducted into the National Association of Broadcast Journalists Hall of Fame.
