Here are the timelines of what took place today in the mass shooting:
3:40 PM: The Associated Press is reporting that the name of the deceased shooter is Aaron Alexis.
3:11 PM: The Washington Nationals have postponed tonight’s game against the Atlanta Braves.
3:10 PM: Senate officials say the Senate is shut down while an additional possible Navy Yard shooter is sought. No one is allowed to enter or exit.
3:08 p.m.: All D.C. Public Schools that are locked down will be dismissed on time, officials say. Each of those schools, except for Eastern High and Eliot-Hine, will also conduct all normal after-school activities.
2:48 p.m.: D.C. Public Charter School officials say that most schools that are locked down will be dismissed on time. Resource officers will be dispatched to the following schools to coordinate parent pickup locations: Friendship PCS Chamberlain Elementary & Middle, Richard Wright PCS for Journalism and Media Arts, Eagle PCS New Jersey Ave, and Cesar Chavez PCS for Public Policy – Capitol Hill.
In addition, the following schools will dismiss at the following times: Somerset Prep PCS (4:15), Richard Wright PCS (4:30 p.m.), Friendship PCS Chamberlain (3:15, all evening activities canceled), Eagle Academy PCS (4 p.m.)
2:44 p.m.: D.C. police officials say that the white male that police believed may be a suspect in the shootings has been identified as is no longer being considered a suspect.
2:42 PM: Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel is ordering the Pentagon flags to fly at half-staff to honor the victims of the Navy Yard shooting.
2:33 PM: MEDSTAR is scheduled to hold another press conference at 3:15 p.m.
2:09 PM: D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray said 12 people are dead after the shooting rampage at the Navy Yard.
1:49 p.m.: A number of schools remain on lockdown throughout the District of Columbia.
1:39 PM: M Street Remains closed from S. Capital Street to 11th Street. The northbound lane of the 11th Street Bridge is closed. But the southbound lane is now open.
1:29 PM: “Everyone here at the Department of Defense is saddened by the incident at the Washington Navy Yard this morning,” said Pentagon spokesman George Little.
1:12 PM: The Naval Sea Systems Command reports there are still people inside building 197 at the Naval Yard.
12:50 PM: Per AP: resident Barack Obama is mourning what he called “yet another mass shooting” in the United States that he says took the life of American patriots. Obama promised to make sure, quote, “whoever carried out this cowardly act is held responsible.”
12:27 PM: D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said one of the potential additional shooters is described as a white male in a khaki tan military uniform who was armed with a handgun. He was last seen at about 8:30 a.m. A second potential shooter is described as a black male in his 50s, also armed and wearing a military-style uniform.
12:20 PM: D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier confirmed one gunman in the Navy Yard shooting is dead. But she said there are potentially two additional shooters.
12:01 PM: Family members of Washington Navy Yard employees who want information on the shooting can call (202) 433-6151.
11:54 AM: The following charter schools are now on lockdown: César Chávez PCS for Public Policy, Eagle Academy PCS, Eagle Academy, Friendship PCS Chamberlain Elementary and Middle, Richard Wright, Somerset Prep DC PCS.
11:50 AM: MPD Chief Cathy Lanier is scheduled to hold a press conference 12″10 p.m. to discuss the shooting.
11:44 AM: The Associated Press reports that the gunman has died. The AP is citing a federal law enforcement source.
11:37 AM: The chance of survival is good for the three victims at MEDSTAR.
11:34 AM: Washington Hospital Center confirms three patients from Navy Yard shooting were brought to MEDSTAR.
11:17 AM: ABC7’s Jennifer Donelan reports that two law enforcement officers report that there are at least eight dead.
11:07 AM: President Obama is scheduled to discuss the shootings at 11:45 a.m.
10:55 AM: Authorities will hold a press conference at MEDSTAR hospital at 11:30 a.m.
10:45 AM: The Washington Post is now reporting that two gunmen were involved in the shooting.
10:41 AM: Richard Wright Public Charter is now on lockdown.
10:36 AM: The Washington Post and ABC News is reporting that four people were killed in the Navy Yard shooting.
10:27 AM: The Washington Post Reports who took part in the shooting, including one dressed in military fatigues.

10:18: AM: The ground stop at Reagan National Airport is now lifted.

10:10 AM: The FBI has confirmed that they are involved in the investigation.
