The Polar Vortex, the freezes, and the flurries all meant one thing: no school for students. There were countless delays – two hours here, two hours there – plus school closures.

Prince William had eight snow days off, while Fairfax County had six, Montgomery County five, P.G. County four, and D.C. schools had three.

Each school district figures out how to make up its snow days differently.

Loudoun County may have taken the most days off, but it doesn’t have to make up any of them because they are already built into the school calendar. Fairfax County also is not required to make up any days.

Meanwhile, Prince George’s must make up four days, and Prince William County, Montgomery County, and D.C. schools all may have to make up just one day each..
