Nigerian Girls2

As reported by the Afro.com:  Washington, D.C.– A Peaceful Rally to Showcase our frustration with the Nigerian Government concerning the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Borno, Nigeria

Citizens of African descent that live within the D.C. Metropolitan area will join the thousands of Nigerians worldwide to express our solidarity with the families of the abducted girls girls from Chibok, and our frustration with the Federal Government of Nigeria’s lackluster response to the recent abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in in Northern Nigeria.

WHO: Nigerians in the diaspora

WHAT: Peace Rally to send a message to the Nigerian government

This impromptu peace rally is scheduled to have 100+ Nigerians as well as people of other African ethnicities standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C where a keynote speaker will render a speech, poets will recite African poems, and a singer(s) will perform Nigeria’s national anthem.

WHEN: Saturday May 3rd, 2014 from 9AM-12PM

WHERE: In front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C

Our goal is to empathize with our people who are back in Nigeria. We want to lend our support by showing them that even though we are thousands of miles away, that this issue is impacting us directly. We are just as frustrated with the Nigerian Federal Government as they are. We want to send a message to Nigerians in Nigeria that Nigerians overseas are grieving, frustrated, and want justice for these young girls just like they do.
