woman blow drying her hair

When I left Baltimore to head to the Big Apple my first task was to find a salon that wasn’t as expensive as my rent payment. I’ve been going to the Drybar and so far it’s been a decent experience with a few hiccups. The first lesson I learned was that I have to make sure I request a Black stylist. And then I have to make it clear to whoever may be on shampoo duty that I don’t wash my hair every two days so they’ve got to put work in.

Imagine my excitement when I learned about GoodHair, the first national hair salon chain of its kind specializing in care and styling for women with textured hair (read: kinky, coily, curly, wavy hair, whether it’s relaxed, natural or somewhere in between). GoodHair will offer quick and reliable services for women on-the-go. Clients will have the choice of either a Wash and Style’ (curly style) or ‘Wash and Blowout’(straightened style).

Basically everything the Drybar offers (and more) but there will be more than one black stylist available to the masses.

You can find comfort in knowing that GoodHair’s founders are two female graduates of Stanford undergrad, Wharton and Columbia Business Schools and Harvard’s Kennedy School. Between the two they have over 25 years of experience in management, marketing, branding, social entrepreneurship and consulting. They’re joined by an advisory board of talented textured hair experts and our social media maven. Their vision is to redefine what it means to have “good hair.”

We believe good hair is healthy hair. Whether your hair is kinky, curly, coily, wavy; whether it’s relaxed, natural or somewhere in between, if it’s healthy, it’s good! – Team Good Hair

All of this is blowing my mind! Am I the only one who is doing fashionable cartwheels? Do you need more convincing? Check out the video below and make sure you beauties support the movement by clicking here.
