NEW YORK, NY – On September 11, 2001, Bretagne and her owner Denise Corliss came to New York City to help first responders.

Their mission was to find survivors buried in the rubble of the Twin Towers. Their rescue effort soon turned into a recovery effort as they helped New York City repair after the tragic attacks.

Fourteen years later, Bretagne returned to the big apple for a much happier occasion: her 16th birthday celebration.

According to a video of the big surprise, Bretagne and Corliss were members of Texas Task Force 1.

“When our task force arrived in Ground Zero, I just couldn’t believe the magnitude,” Corliss said. “And I looked down at her and she seemed stoic and ready to woRK.
