Deborah knew aout God at an early age, but it wasn’t until she nearly lost her life in an abusive relationship that she totally surrendered.
“I took a blow to the face, closed fist,” she told CBN of the very first time her boyfriend laid hands on her. “I think it was like an initial shock at first, but then it was like, what do we do, where do we go from here?”
For a while, Deborah didn’t go anywhere.
Her need to please others, which she had struggled with since childhood, led her down a destructive path. She stayed under her manipulative partner’s thumb of control, even dealing with his threats at gunpoint.
According to Deborah, the abuse worsened.
And yet, she held on to hope that something would be different, even better soon enough.
