Black Lives Matter March Held In Compton In Honor Of Shooting Victim

On Saturday, family members of Autumn Johnson mourned the loss of the one-year-old who was shot in her crib in Compton, CA on February 9th. Police believe the home was targeted because Johnson’s father, Darrell, is gang affiliated however the investigation is still ongoing. Family members say the infant was a gregarious child who was just learning to walk and talk. “It’s just so hard. I feel like my life is over. I wish it would have been me instead of her. She was my future, my firstborn” said Autumn’s mother, Blanche Wandick who was preparing food when her daughter was shot. Following the services, hundreds of Compton residents took to the streets for a peaceful march to end gun violence. A $75,000 reward has already been raised by the community in hopes of finding the assailant. LA Times/Clutch Magazine

Fake Store Employee Steals Thousands In Merchandise

An unidentified man in Colonial, Virginia used a rather clever disguise to commit a crime. The man chose to dress as a Wal-Mart employee wearing a navy blue vest and a name tag. He then proceeded to put four large flat screen TVs in a shopping cart and pushed them out through an emergency exit and into a full-sized SUV. Based on surveillance footage, a Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers spokesperson said that the suspect, who’s African American, approximately 5’10 with a thin build isn’t, “an employee of that Walmart or of any of the neighboring Walmart stores.” The incident took place in January and while several photos grabbed from the surveillance footage have been released, police are still searching for leads. WTVR

Candidate Still Vying For Presidential Nomination

Despite coming in last place in the South Carolina Primary, Republican candidate Ben Carson isn’t ready to throw in the towel.1,237 delegates are needed for Republican party’s nomination. The retired neurosurgeon only has 3 in comparison to Donald Trump’s 67 delegates. “It’s important to remember that only 3 states have now voted,” Carson said in a fundraising email to supporters. “There’s a long way to go,” he added. It seems as if Carson has a ‘practice makes perfect’ mindset when it comes to the debates. While he’s fumbled each time to outshone his competitors, particularly Trump and articulate a strong political platform or any knowledge of foreign policy; Carson is ready to try again. His campaign told reporters, “Following the Nevada caucus results, Dr. Carson will be traveling to Texas on Wednesday morning in order to prepare for the GOP Debate hosted by CNN and Telemundo.”  AJC
