GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz named Carly Fiorina as his running mate on Wednesday. Many people believe Cruz made the move as a final attempt to gain traction in the race. “After a great deal of consideration and prayer, I have come to the conclusion that if I am nominated to be president of the United States that I will run on a ticket with my vice presidential nominee Carly Fiorina,” said Cruz during an Indianapolis rally. Nick Gordon, boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown, shared during a recent interview that Bobbi Kristina suffered miscarriages before her death. “We had a couple of miscarriages. We would have loved to have a kid but we weren’t planning on it yet and she was just such a young fragile person it took a toll on her,” he said. During the interview, Gordon also discussed his final moments with Bobbi Kristina. “I thought she had just been drinking, maybe smoked a little. She was upset, we got into a little argument and then we made up and went upstairs and lay on the bed for about 45 minutes and did what adults do,” he said. “I ran to my room and then I saw my girl on the floor. It was so traumatizing. I dropped to my knees and kept giving her chest compressions and blowing into her mouth. I thought she was going to come round but that never happened.” Gordon is currently facing a wrongful death lawsuit, which claims he is responsible for Brown’s death. Read more.

Georgia Passes Law to Prevent Cops from Having Special Privileges in Court

The state of Georgia has passed a law that prevents officers involved in deadly shootings from getting special privileges in court. The existing law allows officers who have been indicted to sit in the grand jury room during the proceedings and hear all of the evidence in the cases before making a closing argument. According to reports, no police officers have been prosecuted in six years. The new law, which will be enacted on July 1, will make transcripts of the cases public and will also allow officers to be in the grand jury room only when it’s time to make a statement. “When you’re the only state in the country that takes a particular approach, you have a responsibility to take a giant step back and to reassess,” said Rep. Rich Golick. “We now can be assured that whatever happens inside the grand jury room will be above question, and that is what matters.” Read more.

87 Bronx Gang Members Charged in Largest Gang Bust in NYC History

Police officials in New York City are doing everything in their power to combat gang violence. On Wednesday, 87 suspects were charged as a result of the largest gang bust in the city’s history. Federal agents raided Eastchester Gardens and Edenwald Houses in Willamsbridge and arrested 120 people. Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said those arrested were responsible for bringing crime into the community. “If you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, you could be shot, stabbed and even killed,” said Bharara. “If you live in public housing, you also have the right to live in a clean and safe development.” Local residents are relieved that police officials have taken action. “Finally, we’re going to be able to sit outside with our children and grandchildren without having to worry. We’re getting our development back from these criminals,” said a resident. Read more.
