Former “Voice” contestant Christina Grimmie has been shot and killed at a performance in Orlando, Florida. She was only 22-years-old.

“It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord,” her publicist told E! News.

“She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. If you’d like to give back to Christina’s family in her memory, please consider donating to the families GoFundMe page in their time of need,” she added.

Grimmie was shot by a male suspect who then ended up shooting and killing himself.

“Detectives were told the suspect, who is not being identified at this time, walked toward Christina and shot her. Christina’s brother immediately tackled the suspect stopping him from causing any more harm to Christina and her fans. During the struggle, the suspect shot himself. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene,” the publicist confirmed.

So sad. We send our deepest condolences to the Grimmie family.

A 23-year old Detroit man will be released from prison after being wrongly convicted of murder when he was a teenager.

According to USA Today, Davontae Sanford who had been serving a 37- to 90-year sentence for the quadruple homicide is being sent home after a judge stated that the teen inaccurately confessed to police when he was 15-years-old.

A report further explained that two weeks after Sanford confessed, professional hit man Vincent Smothers also confessed to the murders, as well as eight additional killings. But Sanford was still sent to prison despite Smothers stressing that the teen had nothing to do with the murders. Thankfully, after a new investigation, Sanford has had his conviction revoked.

“No one can give Davontae Sanford and his family back the nine years he has spent in jail for a crime he did not commit, but the court’s decision today corrects a grave injustice,” said Heidi Naasko, Sanford’s attorney.
