Four times is the charm for Serena Williams.

The 34-year-old just won her 22nd Grand Slam in a 7-5, 6-3 win over Angelique Kerber, who had defeated her in a Grand Slam final earlier this year.

Williams attempted the same record last year that ties her for a winning streak with Steffi Graf, who was ranked No. 1 in the world during her career. Graf won 22 Grand Slam singles titles as well.

For those of you who know the game well, Williams has been playing for 18 years with a total of 64 starts —that’s a 34.4 percent of her matches.

As noted by Fox Sports, while this isn’t as impressive as Graf who won the 22 games over a span of 16 years, it’s certainly worth the praise. They note: Next month, Serena begins her quest to pass Steffi Graf. If she gets back to her usual level of Grand Slam tennis, she might have 25 by the time she gets back to the All England Club. Serena has long been thought of the greatest player of the Open era. She just about has the record to back it up.

Raising her first high in solidarity with the plight of African Americans in this country right now, had to be the highlight of the epic game. Also in the crowd, representing for dope ass black women everywhere, was her “Sorry” music video partner Beyoncé.

Dressed in white, the singer cheered her friend on as she made history.

In a recent press conference Williams addressed being constantly referred to as “one of the best female athletes”.

“I would like to see people, the public and the press and other athletes in general just realize and respect women for who we are, what we are and what we do,” she said.

Adding, “I’ve been working at this since I was three years old […] Basically my whole life I’ve been doing this and I haven’t had a life and I don’t think I deserve to be paid less because of my sex. Or anyone else for that matter, in any job.”

All we can say: Get.It.Girl.
