Iris Apfel is the grandmother your 15-year-old daughter wishes she had.
This 95-year-old businesswoman is an interior designer, accessories collector, and style icon. You don’t want to miss her fashion advice or her curated collection that was debuted at Macy’s Fashion Front Row during New York Fashion Week. Her collection is available in stores and online now!
She sat down to talk to Vogue.com Style Editor Edward Barsamian to discuss all things fashion, style, and Iris-inspired.
WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY?
“I think you can wear whatever you damn please.”
HER GO-TO OUTFIT?
“Basic black trousers, black top, and, of course, accessories.”
SPEAKING OF ACCESSORIES …
“I’ve been collecting junk jewelry since I was 11.”
Iris has an insane jewelry collection (and some curated pieces you can purchase at Macy’s!). When discussing her favorite type of jewelry, she quipped, “Long necklaces are good for hiding wrinkles — they are cheaper than surgery!”
She also talked about her love for big glasses, “If you are gonna wear glasses, you might as well wear glasses.”
ON HER FAVORITE EMOJI FROM HER APP:
“I like the one where I’m winking.”
Love Iris? You can download her app in the iTunes Store or Google Play.
ON STILL WORKING HARD AT 95:
“If I didn’t have all this work to do, I’d be a miserable basket case.”
You gotta love the honesty, ingenuity, and eclectic nature of Iris Apfel. Shop her collection for Macy’s, here.
