The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s office released a preliminary report declaring Terence Crutcher’s death a homicide, according to news outlet KOCO. Crutcher’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest, the report states.

A full toxicology and autopsy report wasn’t readily available at the time of reporting, according to KOCO.

Tulsa Officer Betty Shelby was arrested and released on $50,000 bond early Friday morning in Crutcher’s shooting death.

On Friday, September 16, the 40-year-old was confronted by police on a Tulsa highway near his SUV. The officers were allegedly responding to reports of a stalled vehicle. Video released from the shooting shows that Crutcher was unarmed and had his hands up when Shelby fired the fatal shot.
