Prince George’s County police said there were plans to deploy additional officers at county schools on Monday in response to a threat. Police said officers would be sent to Bladensburg High School, Charles H. Flowers High School, William Wirt Middle School and Kenmoore Middle School out of an “abundance of caution” in response to a threat naming those schools.

In a series of tweets Sunday afternoon, Prince Georges County Public Schools said officials were “aware of the threat circulating on social media” and that “out of an abundance of caution, resources would be deployed Monday to address any situation that arises.” Police did not provide details about the nature of the threat or whether or not the threat was credible, but said that police “take these threats seriously.”
