I feel a great sense of pride as Radio One’s Founder and Chairperson, Cathy Hughes is being honored this afternoon by Howard University’s School of Communication. As I type this the School is being named The Cathy Hughes School of Communications. I moved to DC back in 1992, hoping to make it big in a major radio market, and my first job in this market was at WOL, & WMMJ over on 4th and H St. I had the honor of working with Mrs. Hughes, when she did her morning talk show. She talked about her vision for a Radio/TV network. She was very focused and driven. She spoke into existence her vision, she was not to be deter by any obstacles, and overcame all the challenges.
So over 2 decades later, after working in many markets for many companies, I am back in the Radio One fold, and happy to be here. I am once again part of her vision and the fruit of her labors. Thank you Mrs. Hughes for dreaming big. Congratulations and continued success.
Peace and Blessings
