Former 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has helped secure a Turkish Airline cargo plane to provide supplies to the people of Somalia, devastated by famine.

He had this to say: “Amazing news, Turkish Airlines granted us an airplane to fly to Somalia, a 60-ton cargo plane so we can fly there with food, with water for these people. Now we’ve started a GoFundMe page to allow anyone to help us donate food, donate water. We’ll make sure every cent goes to help these people.”

Stars like Kaepernick and Ben Stiller are leading the charge to help those in need, raising over 1Million dollars in less than 24 hours thanks to the power of social media.

The airline has agreed to allow food to be shipped on their commercial aircrafts to Somalia until the end of the famine as long as the money is raised.
