Tragedy struck an Ariana Grande show in Manchester, England, as a blast killed 19 people and hurt dozens more.
About 50 people were injured during an incident at the Manchester Arena, CNN reports. There is no information at this time about who may be responsible for the attack or why they did it, but authorities are handling it with extreme caution.
“This is currently being treated as a terrorist incident until police know otherwise,” Greater Manchester Police said on Twitter.
“We can confirm there was an incident as people were leaving the Ariana Grande show,” police added, according to CNN. “The incident took place outside the venue in a public space.”
Following reports of two explosions, cops warned people to stay away from the area. According to victims at the site, Ariana had left the stage. Supposedly, a nail bomb may have been used in the attack.
The Guardian reports that authorities initially thought this incident was that a suicide bomber set off the explosion, which took place shortly after 10:30 p.m.
A nearby Underground station had been cordoned off and train service has been shut down in the area at this time.
Worried people are trying to locate loved ones who may have been at the show using Twitter. Facebook has also set up a check-in online to allow fans to let people know they’re safe. Greater Manchester Police have also created a hotline.
Ariana has not spoken out on the incident at this time.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families at this time.
