Who is Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir?  Gibson is a full time choir conductor and workshop leader with extensive experience; according to her YouTube account, “she has been involved with vocal groups and choirs for over 25 years, conducting gospel workshops all over the UK and Europe as well as Nigeria, Japan, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and the USA. She has been instrumental in drawing together and conducting some of the most prestigious large-scale choirs for a variety of gospel and civic performances.”

I love what Angela Helm of The Root wrote about them:  Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir. That gospel choir, which sang “Lean on Me” during the ceremony took us to chuuuuch. That was fine, but they really shone as the newly married couple exited the church to choruses of “Amen.” “Ayyyye-men, Aye-men, Aye-men” (which is how my favorite church services end.) They then went into a rousing rendition of tried-and-true Negro spiritual “This Little Light of Mine.” Additionally, there were yells of “yiyiyiyiyiyiyi” after the couple exited the church, proving that Africa was indeed in the house (or outside in this case).
