Denise Hill Speaks with Gabe Martinez Cabrera of the Literacy Council

There is a clear link between the education gap and poverty. While there is much government, public, and private funding available to address the issues within K-12 education, those in adult education do what they can to provide the skills. resources, and education to make the economic and social difference in the lives of disengaged youth and young adults, adult learners, and English language learners throughout the nation.

In Montgomery County 1 in 6 residents are without a high school diploma, and MCPS experience 1000 students who drop out of high school each year. Literacy Council Executive Director, Gabriel Martinez Cabrera, talks about the work his organization is doing in Montgomery County and the region. He also makes a call for volunteers to help meet the need for tutors that grows daily. Listen as he shares then visit their website and volunteer.
