He has won Grammy, Stellar, and Dove awards. Now Pastor W.R. “Smokie” Norful, Jr. can call himself a Hall of Famer. July 28th, Gospel and CCM artist, Smokie Norful, joined artists Point of Grace and Dennis Jernigan as an inductee in the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

A Muskogee, OK native, Smokie Norful is part of the organizations first genre-specific induction in its 30-year existence, becoming a part of history. Jermaine Mondaine, the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame’s new executive director, spoke of this new direction. “Part of my reasoning and/or thinking as a new director is I wanted to try some different things, so we wanted to try genre-specific. That’s not to say that that’s something that we’re going to be do going forward. It’s something that we wanted to do with this induction in particular,” he said. “In times past whenever we had inductions and we had Christian artists, it could get a little weird … Inducting a Christian artist with a secular artist.”

Congratulations Smokie Norful; 2018 Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame Inductee
