Mattel announced their next doll in their series that honors iconic women; Rosa Parks. The Civil Rights activists, most known for her life-changing 1955 decision to not give up her bus seat to a white man in the segregated south, is being honored along with other such iconic women as Frida Kahlo, Amelia Earhart, and Katherine Johnson. On the announcement of the Rosa Parks doll, Mattel also announced the release of a doll honoring astronaut Sally Ride.

Mattel said, “The women chosen for the series are all female role models and heroines of their time who took risks and paved the way for the next generation of girls and women.”

The Rosa Parks doll depicts a young Rosa Parks, dressed in fashion from the Civil Rights era, comes with a doll stand, a certificate of authenticity, and educational information about her role in history. Expected to ship in September, the $30 doll is available for pre-order online now.
