Rev. Dr. Cain Hope Felder has died. He was 76.

Rev. Felder for many years was the dean of Howard University’s School of Divinity. Felder retired from teaching in 2016 but remained active with the university.

He also taught at the Princeton Theological Seminary and served as the first executive director of Black Methodists for Church Renewal, the Black Caucus of the United Methodist Church.

Gospel star and Howard University School of Divinity alumnus Ernest Pugh paid tribute to Felder on his Instagram account.

Pugh wrote “Another General in Gods army has gained his wings. Rev. Dr. Cain Hope Felder is gone but never forgotten. I stand with countless students of Howard University School of Divinity to say our lives were immensely impacted by the humor, wisdom, and love of this amazing Professor. May the God of comfort overshadow & embrace every family member, loved one, and friend in his life during this difficult time. Rest in Power!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾”
