UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

It is hard to press on with a task or routine when doing so does not seem to produce any positive changes. How can we persevere in the absence of tangible progress? Jesus taught the disciples to continue to ask, seek, and knock—confident that God would graciously provide; and Daniel’s preservation in the lions’ den provides an example of God’s loving protection in response to constancy in prayer.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

Just as parents provide good things for their children, so God responds to our requests with the right reward at the right time. But the key to unlocking the door and receiving the right reward from God is made possible through the power of persistent prayer. When we exchange our selfishness for God’s gifts, we are able to rise above the inconsequential things that do not matter and focus on the things that do matter.

PRAYER:

LORD, thank you for being such a good Father who gives such good gifts to your children. Your grace is amazing, your mercy is everlasting and your truth endures to all generations. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
