The Motivational Moment during Sunday Joy with Ronnette Rollins encourages the listener to get motivated for whatever they may face during the week. In this Motivational Moment, Reverend Ron Harrison talks about the history of the Christmas holiday.

Some religions believe Christmas is derived from paganism and pagan rituals. However, the Catholic church started the observance of the Christmas holiday back in 336 A.D. during the reign of Emperor Constantine. The word Christmas means “the Mass of Christ”. Since the actual date of Jesus’ birth was never known, Pope Julius Caesar I, chose December 25th. December 25th was also the day the followers of Mithras, the Roman Sun-God, celebrated the winter solstice. The Pope chose that date intentionally as a way of weakening the influence of idolatry. So instead of celebrating the Sun-God, we, Christians, celebrate the Son of God, Jesus, the Light of the World.

The world wants to take “Christ” out of Christmas but don’t be ashamed to share & declare your faith!

We wish you a Merry CHRISTmas!
