Senator Cory Booker Gets Married
Sen. Cory Booker married his fiancee, Alexis Lewis, in two separate ceremonies in his home state and Washington, D.C., the senator said Sunday.
“Overflowing with gratitude. We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us, Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C. first at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful,” Booker said in a post with his bride, whose name is now listed as Alexis Lewis Booker, on Instagram.
In September, Booker announced his engagement, referring to his fiancee at the time as “one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life.” Booker, who had been a lifelong bachelor, announced his engagement via posts on his social media accounts.
The New Jersey Democrat at the time said his new wife had “transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love.”
“I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancee,” Booker said. “We are excited for this journey ahead, having so much fun, and feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us.”
