The Division II Bowie State Bulldogs had arguably the best season of any HBCU program. The squad won 12 games, went undefeated in their conference, and went further in the division two playoffs than any other team in school history.

Jackson State football, and its head coach Deion Sanders, shocked the world earlier this week when they flipped one of the best high school players in the nation on national signing day. Travis Hunter was committed to Florida State until he made the dramatic announcement to sign with Jackson State and play football for the Tigers in 2022.

Hercy Miller, the star recruit for Nashville-based HBCU Tennessee State University's basketball team, has entered the transfer portal. The move was made with the backing of his father, Percy "Master P" Miller who was highly concerned with the school's lack of medical resources.

The Tigers went into Gainesville, Florida, and dominated the 20th ranked team in the country by beating Florida 69-54.

Jackson State Head Football Coach Deion Sanders has become a legitimate candidate for the head coaching position at TCU.  According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Sanders interviewed for the job Monday. A Jackson State official declined to comment on the matter to the newspaper. 

This year’s game was the 96th meeting between the two HUs; Howard and Hampton but it’s the first with the new name, “Truth and Service Classic.”

The HBCU Combine is set to be an additional showcase with HBCU players including the recently announced HBCU Legacy Bowl.

A new Georgia law could be the catalyst that changes the landscape of college football as we know it. Georgia Governor Brain Kemp recently signed a law that would allow college athletes to be paid.
