An Ohio Grand Jury has declined to file charges against a police officer in the death of Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old boy who was fatally shot last year, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty announced Monday, reports The New York Times.

"I saw the weapon in his hands coming out of his waistband and the threat to my partner and myself was real and active."

The prosecutor overseeing the case of Tamir Rice was blasted for comments he made that suggest the grieving mother of the slain boy has "economic motives."
