Minister, musician, artist, producer, singer, model, radio personality, director, CEO and the list GOES ON! In a suburb of Chicago, Lonnie is one of those we would consider a “Church Baby” being the youngest of 5 children. He was surrounded by Gospel at a very young age, due to the fact that his mother was a popular background singer for many of Gospel music’s legends during his youth. She passed on to be with the Lord on Lonnie’s 8th birthday. It was at this time that he became determined to carry out her legacy.

Lonnie graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelors degree in Public Administration/Public Relations. After working in the public sector, Lonnie started Hunter Communications Group; training corporate management teams in areas such as cultural awareness/diversity, effective communications skills, effective leadership, time and stress management. Lonnie earned the Pinnacle Award of achievement for black owned companies, awarded by the Gillette Corporation in 1999.

A Stellar award nominated artist, Lonnie recorded and produced 3 cd’s with The Voices of St. Mark on the Malaco Record Label. With hits such as “Even Me” (the drip drop song), “Let’s Dance”, and “There’s Power In His Name”. While earning his degree, Lonnie served in the U.S. Air Force for 5 years earning and honorable discharge as a high ranking sergeant. He spent 3 years as a runway/print model for Luster Hair Care products male texturizer campaign and continued to do what God had commissioned him to do in the Gospel Music Industry.

For 4 years Lonnie was the host of the 1 Gospel Radio Show in Chicago. Ruling the morning drive time Mon-Fri 6am-10am on WGCI AM. At the same time he served as Dean of Students for one of the largest school districts in the suburbs of Chicago. Now a resident of New Jersey, he serves as Pastor of Worship at Bethany Baptist Church, a 26,000 member Mega Church in Lindenwold, NJ. Where Bishop David G. Evans is the Pastor.

Lonnie can now be seen weekly as the male face of “The Word Network,” and heard as the HOST OF “REAL CHRISTIAN RADIO” Mon-Fri 10am-2pm on Praise 103.9 FM. A Philadelphia Radio One Station spanning the entire Tri-State area.

As husband, father, mentor, artist, and business man, Lonnie lives by Phil. 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me!”

Listening to your commemt of the lady with the three friends in a relationship and what they needed to do.
Lonnie the response that you gave was one that I could have use over thirty years ago, I allowed my kids father to beat me for years and I thought that he really loved me.
He always made me feel that I made him beat me, and no I was not wise enough to set boundaries.
I thought that I did not look good enough or was smart enough to find someone that loved me for who I was and because he was a nice looking guy I thought l was the lucky one. He left me and married somene else and a couple of years later he was incarsareted for over 20 years and I realized who the lucky one was. I hope someone out there heard you and can move on. Thanks Lonnie

I listened to your comments to the young lady that has her confidence shaken because she is light skinned. I totally disagreed with your comments. Unless you are a light skin person, you really do not know the issues that we face. In elementary school, I was fine being light skin because I was in school with my neighbors. When I got to junior & senior high schools, the whole situation changed and I was bullied & teased by darker girls that were not my neighbors. My confidence was greatly shaken and it took me until I was 40, although my husband tells me daily that I am beautiful, to accept who I was and realize that I am indeed beautiful.
I am now 50 years old and I still have a few challenges with being light skinned. Like the caller, because I would not take part in other conversations (college educated people with masters degrees but full of trash talk) with people that are your complexion or a tad bit darker, I was told that I didn’t like Black people! Go figure! My mother was your complexion, my husband of 30 years may be a tad darker than you, but yet, I have been labeled as disliking Black people because I won’t participate in trash talk. Sorry, I was not raised that way. So to my beautiful sisters that are light skin, continue to take your stand, no matter what they say. Be sweet, be kind, carry yourself the way that makes you happy. They have an issue, not you.

    Hi Lonnie

I enjoy your show when I can listen, but I wanted to comment on you discussion topic for today concerning the mosque to be built near ground-zero. I think it’s terribly unfair to blame all Muslims for what a few extremist did on September 11. The Mosque itself is just a building, so the problem has to be with the people who attend the mosque. And if that’s the real problem, are we not doing to them what we as African Americans have dealt with all our existence in American – being treated differently because we look or believe differently. Black people were treated differently when bought to the country because it was said we were not Christians.

If we can truly blame “Muslim Community” for September 11 then we should also blame all white people for slavery because slavery claimed the lives of far more people than those that died on September 11. What if the people who committed the violate acts of September 11 were Catholic or Methodist or Presbyterian or Buddhist or some other religious sect? Would we feel the same way about a church or synagogue being erected near ground zero? Let’s not blame innocent people because someone that looks like them and calls themselves a Muslim like them decided with other murderers to murder innocent people. The Muslims in the United States did nothing wrong on September 11 no more than we as black people did anything wrong to be enslaved. We should understand this better than any other race in this country.

And as far as the Mosque – which is just a building, being erected near ground zero – I can’t think of a better structure to be erected near this site than a place for people – not Muslims – to pray. Just like we hate it when we are stereotyped- because it dehumanizes us, I would think that Muslims don’t like it either. When we start to see people as a religious sect instead of just people, we become just like extremist ourselves – which enables us to do and say things to them we wouldn’t want said or done to us – Thus, the cruelty of slavery.

I don’t think they – that is those who will go there to pray at the Mosque will be planning future terrorist attack on the United States – they want to be able to serve their God just like we serve the God we believe in. If we as American start to stereotype Muslims – which is nothing more than racial profiling – we continue to perpetuate the same vicious cycle that has plagued the African American community for decades. I would like to think we are better than that.

    Hello Lonnie,

The purpose of my message os to ask for prayer not for myself although I am experiencing much difficulty in my life right now but for my 20 year old cousin Deonte McBride who is in Johns Hopkins in Baltimore MD battling Brain Cancer as well as his mother who is in need of financial support to aide her in this hard time. I pray for healing and strength Lord and faith the size of a mustard seed no matter the circ**stance. Please heal him. I would also like to pray for all those around me experiencing any type of difficulty. This is not all I need to say but I know and believe that prayer changes things. so if I have to I will post a prayer for you all everyday. In Jesus name. Amen

    Hi Lonnie,

I really enjoy your show. There is this one question I do not know how to ask because it is embarrassing, I really want to know if waiting for a guy to decide on taking a relationship to another level should take over 4 to 5 years? I have expressed my desire to be marry and this guy continue to say it will happen but I am really concern that it is taking too long.

The GOD that I serve is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient one (and only). When something tragic happens one will have to encourage oneself to Press / Persevere for HE is all knowing and has ALL power. As hard as it may sound you have got to forgive (the enemy will bring it up constantly to see what your level of strength is all day everyday(he feels that he has power over you when you choose not to forget)). Call on JESUS at those much needed times. HE/GOD will strengthen your heart; I PROMISE.

    FOR GOD IS LOVE,

    Encouraged.

It is a benefactor for those that use the placenta of dead babies to rejuvenate thier bodies for youthful vanity. Think about. We are always the last to know about these things. If Kristofer Reid had not had his accident I know that I wouldn’t have had a clue.
    GO FIGURE.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: About Over Eating.

As a christian we try to have it all together, but as the word says we all fall short everyday. We all have short coming including over eating. Sometime I do it just because it looks good and I want to know how it taste.

I am sure that the lady that emailed you thought that you would say be strong in your walk for straight and narrow is the way. Narrow-minded / low-esteem people are of all shapes and forms. Numerous time my Pastor has commented that he himself is a work in progress.

I think that the woman that commented in the first hour is correct. Some people grow up in nurturing families and some not. People will comment to you she is so lucky, then will lie on you.

Just remember that straight and narrow is the path that GOD has forged for all when HIS bullies whipped him all night, nailed HIM to the Cross, pierced HIM in HIS side, placed a crown of thorns on his head, and after all that gave him vinegar to drink before HE uttered those three PROPHETIC words IT IS FINISH.

Walk on and walk strong all who are bearing a cross.
    JESUS DID.

    Luv.

    Mr. Hunter,
    Shalom Aleikhem!

I heard your show today and the segment where the gentleman called in and said he did not have ANY problems BECAUSE HE TRUSTS G_D. Your subsequent callers quoted one particular Holy Scripture, “Cast your burdens and care upon ME…”.

First I would like to say, you cannot rebuke the gentleman’s testimony of THE WORK G_D is doing in his life. He, like Peter, allowed the outside influences to PUT DOUBT IN HIS HEART regarding The Perfect Work Being Completed In him By G_D. Second, the Holy Scripture is taken out of text when you do not Identify Who the MESSIAH was talking to AND Why. “CAST…”, TRUSTING FAITHFULLY, REQUIRES DOING IT ONE TIME, AND TRUSTING THAT IT IS DONE. The MESSIAH DIDN’T SAY “KEEP CASTING…” BUT if you don’t TRUST, you ARE in need of “KEEP CASTING…” AND THAT IS BONDAGE… Be IT as IT may, When we Walk/Live IN THE PERFECT WILL OF OUR FATHER, LOSING OUR IDENTITY, IT IS HE THAT LIVES… WE ARE INSIGNIFCANT. THEREFORE, “HE WILL PROVIDE FOR HIMSELF, ALL THAT IS NEEDED TO MAKE HIS WILL AND GLORY MANIFEST!” Gen. 22:8 With THAT said, WE NO LONGER HAVE PROBLEMS, THEY ARE ALL HIS PROBLEMS, AND SINCE HE IS YHVH EL SHADDIA, THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS. LOSING A JOB, IS NOT A PROBLEM. IT IS A DOOR THAT G_D OPENED FOR HIMSELF. BEING A STUMBLING BLOCK, THAT’S A PROBLEM.
And IT IS SAD! THAT THIS “Peter” CALLED BACK IN, AND RENOUNCED THE UNDERSTANDING G_D GAVE HIM, AND YIELDED TO WHAT “THE GOYIM’S INTERPRETATION” OF HIS HOLY WORD REVEALED TO HIM. THAT IS VERY SAD….

    Mr. Hunter,
I listen to you everyday, here in Houston, Praise 92.1, I love you with all my heart and soul. You are a blessing to everyone. My husband has been out of a job for almost 1 1/2 years, and it’s been a struggle for me and my family. He’s applying for job and going on interviews, but it’s much harder for our black men. I trust in JESUS and know he is going to make a way, and he don’t give us know more than we can bare. He don’t bring us this far just to leave us….. I been at the same job for almost 14 years, and that’s a blessing in itself. But, my reason for emailing you is because I hear you talking about jobs, and that we can go to your website, but I’m not sure if I’m writing it down correctly; can you please let me know what I’m doing wrong? He need a job soon, and my family and I need your prayer warriors to pray for me and my family.

I love you with the love of the Lord, thank you for everything; Have a Happy New Year!

    Many Blessings,
    Karen

    Hello Lonnie,

I need God to move in my families finances. Husband was laid off last April and unfortunately he has not obtained a job. Also I am self employed providing services to low income high risk exectant mothers that at times I don’t even have enough to service my own home. I am asking for a complete overhaul in the business for more than enough for me and my household as I continue to bless others. Please pray that my husband get a new job soon. Thanks

    Dear Angels,

I am writing this letter from the bottom of my HEART with the PRAYERS that an ANGEL will respond back to me. My name is Tiffany Gatlin and I am a 40 year old single mother who needs a place to call home for myself and my son Jeremiah. I honestly believe that DEVINE FAVOR IS GOD USING SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE TO USE THEIR POWER ABILITY AND INFLUENCE TO HELP ME. I also believe in MIRACLES and I need RIGHT NOW MIRACLE of $2,000.00 so that we can move into our home. Our desire is to have this matter of a place to call home for THANKSGIVING.
The reason why I am requesting this HELP is because we have been without a place to call home for several years. And my son needs stability and safety in his life being that he is 12 years old. And I honestly feel within myself that I have failed him in this area of not providing stability and safety. There are many circ**stances for which I can not live with my parents. And if I do not have to go into any details it will be much stress on me to live with them. I just need to have the finances to move in and after this point I will be able to take care of the rest. I am a TEAM MEMBER OF MARY KAY AND ALSO SELL LIFE INSURANCE WITH HELPING HANDS INSURANCE COMPANY.
As I listen to the radio I NO THAT IT AIN’T OVER UNTIL GOD SAYS IT’S OVER!!! So that is the reason I TRUSTING THAT FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPE AND THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN. The request is URGENT BECAUSE MYSELF AND MY SON WILL BE WITHOUT A PLACE TO CALL HOME AFTER THIS WEEK. I WILL LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM AN ANGEL SOON.
You may reach me at 713-429-4470 and as you read this letter will you please reach in your HEART TO RESCUE US!!!

    MANY BLESSINGS,
    TIFFANY GATLIN
