Shooting In Lower Manhattan Federal Building

It was a grim Sunday night in Clarksdale, Mississippi after officer Derrick Couch was shot at point blank range by two men fleeing the scene following a robbery.

The suspects were running from the Corner Grocery Store when Couch, a five-year veteran of the force, caught up with them four blocks away and confronted them. That’s when one of the suspects turned around and opened fire on Couch, knocking him to the ground. The bullet went through his eye and pierced his brain.

One of the suspects, yet to be named, was dragged into custody by his father, who somehow had knowledge of his son’s involvement in the shooting. Police searched his home and found “telling” evidence connected to the shooting.

The other suspect was apprehended at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Couch is currently hooked up to a ventilator in a hospital on the outskirts Clarksdale, fighting for his life. We pray for Couch and his loved ones at this time.
