The first person hurt in a mass shooting in southwestern Michigan credits God with being her source of strength on her road to recovery.
Tiana Carruthers told ABC’s Good Morning America, “God has really been here for me.”
The traumatized 25-year-old mom was hit four times in the Feb. 20 shootings that killed six people.
According to authorities Jason Dalton, 45, shot at people in three different locations in between driving passengers for Uber. Bullets struck Carruthers as she used her own body to shield children from danger.
“I wake up thinking it’s all a dream. But when I wake up, reality hits,” Carruthers told ABC News’ Alex Perez.
This woman, who is being called a hero, over and over again mentally replays the horrifying moment when she yelled out to her 7-year old daughter and other children playing nearby to hurry up and get to safety.
