Well the wait is finally over as the President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama announced on Sunday morning that their eldest daughter Malia Obama, 17, will attend the prestigious Harvard University, her parents’ law school alma mater. There’s one catch: Ms. Obama will take a year off and start her freshman year in the fall of 2017, the Washington Post reported.

While there was much speculation that Ms. Obama would attend Barnard College in New York City, today’s announcement squashed those rumors. Now as HELLO BEAUTIFUL previously reported, In the May issue of Seventeen, FLOTUS wouldn’t tell the mag which school Malia had chosen, but did share her advice to her daughters on picking colleges.

“The one thing I’ve been telling my daughters is that I don’t want them to choose a name. I don’t want them to think, ‘Oh I should go to these top schools.’ We live in a country where there are thousands of amazing universities. So, the question is: What’s going to work for you?”” she said.

Of course, Twitter has nothing but love for the First Daughter and her future success:

Bravo Malia! You make us so very proud!

SOUND OFF: Tell us how you think Malia might spend her year off!
