Unfortunate news this morning as Psalmist Lecresia Campbell has passed. Her death was confirmed on her official Facebook Page.

Campbell, best known for her stirring voice on classic “Perfect Praise (How Excellent)” with Walt Whitman & The Soul Children of Chicago also has sung back-up for Vanessa Bell Armstrong shared the stage with singers such as Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary and more.

Campbell also played Effie in the stage version of “Dreamgirlsmade famous by Jennifer Holiday and Jennifer Hudson who won an Oscar for the role.

Campbell died from a Pulmonary Embolism. Condolences to her family during this time
