UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE: When there have been dramatic changes in circumstances and in the roles of leadership, people are uncertain of their own roles and responsibilities. Where can they find direction and authority to act? The risen Lord commissioned the disciples, giving them authority and responsibility to continue and extend His mission and ministry throughout the world.
CONCLUDING REFLECTION: We are to go—whether it is next door or to another country—and make disciples. It is not an option, but a command to all who call Jesus “Lord”. We are not all evangelists in the formal sense, but we have all received gifts that we can use to help fulfill the Great Commission. As we obey, we have comfort in the knowledge that Jesus is always with us. Our job is to tell the whole world about Jesus!
PRAYER: We give you thanks, O God, for your Son, Jesus, whom you sent to die for our sins. We give praise and thanks to you for raising Him to life anew with the promise that all who believe and trust His name shall one day rise into newness of eternal life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
