Former Maryland State Senator, Ulysses Currie, was called home December 27th, according to his wife, Shirley Gravely-Currie. He represented in the Maryland House of Delegates and the Senate from 1987 until he completed his final term at the start of 2019. Senator Currie was 82 and suffered from advanced dementia. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Michael and Aris, and two grandchildren.
Ulysses Currie will lie in state, Friday, January 10th, 5:00pm-8:00pm, at the Alexander S. Pope Funeral Home, 5538 Marlboro Pike, in Forestville, MD. His celebration of life will take place at Allen Chapel AME Church, 2498 Alabama Ave., SE, Washington, DC. on Saturday, January 11th, beginning with a viewing at 9:00am. His brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will begin their memorial service at 10:30, followed by his homegoing at 11. His interment with military honors will take Sunday the 12th in Martinsville, VA.
