Information For Jesse Jackson Homegoing Services

On February 17, we said a final earthly goodbye to a giant, Reverend Jesse Jackson, who finished his course at the age of 84. From the front lines with Dr. King to the founding of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, this man didn’t just talk about history, he grabbed it by the collar and moved it forward for over sixty years.
This past Sunday, his daughter Santita took to the airwaves on her Chicago radio show to honor the man she knew as her father. Her words hit home for all of us. She reminded the listeners that while we feel the loss, his passing is a triumph rather than a tragedy. The family shared that same spirit in their official statement, noting they find peace knowing his impact still echoes across the globe.
Because of the weight of his legacy, the homegoing plans have been expanded to give the people a chance to pay their respects.
Homegoing Updates and Service Schedule
Initially, the family shared a localized plan, but the response from the nation has been overwhelming. Leaders from his birthplace in South Carolina and the halls of power in Washington, D.C., have reached out to host formal services. The family expressed deep gratitude that these two pillars of his journey will be part of his final farewell.
Here is the flow for the official ceremonies:
- South Carolina & Washington, D.C.: Formal viewings and services will take place in his native state and the nation’s capital to honor his roots and his global work.
- Chicago, Illinois: The final official services will be held in his beloved home city on March 6 and 7.
We’re losing a general, but the blueprint he left behind is still here for the youth to follow and for the rest of us to protect. Let’s keep the Jackson family in our prayers as they prepare to celebrate a life that truly changed the world.
