Nyfesha Miller didn’t think twice when she offered to help a struggling mother calm her 4-month-old daughter aboard a cramped 6 a.m. flight from Chicago to Atlanta.
But her singular act of kindness has sparked a virtual love fest. The incident began a week ago Thursday, when Rebekka Garvison boarded the plane with her 4-month-old daughter, Rylee, to visit her husband, an active-duty Army firefighter stationed in Alabama, according to MLive:
“I could tell as soon as they (passengers) saw me coming their way, they were not thrilled,” Garvison told MLive. “We sat down and she started crying, and I was trying to get her bottle out of the bag.”
Unable to calm the baby while sitting in her original seat, Garvison opted to move to two empty seats a few rows ahead of her. Also sitting on that row was Nyfesha Miller.
Miller, a frequent traveler, was settled into her neck pillow and ready for a nap. However, when Miller heard Rylee’s cries, she offered to help.
She held Rylee near the window and the infant relaxed, stopped crying, and fell asleep moments later in Miller’s arms, the report says.
Miller and Garvison struck up conversation and formed a bond. After the flight landed, “Miller helped Garvison with Rylee and all the baby gear. The two women then went their separate ways — Miller went to Florida and Garvison headed to Alabama,” writes MLive.
But Garvison didn’t forget the encounter. Later Thursday, she discussed the experience in a Facebook post, and that was all she wrote, so to speak. The post was shared nearly 100,000 times by Wednesday evening.
The image comes at a time when race relations are strained in the nation and we could use some positivity. What do you think?
