Prince George’s County Police have arrested three men in connection with the shooting death of an Oxon Hill hotel worker, and they say the trio may be responsible for other armed robberies in the area.

Both Deandre Weems, 20, and Kimfrey Williams, 23, were charged with first degree murder; Washington is charged with second-degree murder. All three are being held on a no-bond status, Prince George’s County Police Spokeswoman Julie Parker announced Monday morning.

Restaurant manager Jesse Alexis Chavez, 27, of Fort Washington was fatally shot on October 21 after confronting a robbery suspect at the Clarion Hotel.

The suspect, identified by police as Weems, entered the lobby, jumped over the counter and demanded money from the front desk clerk. The woman complied, and the suspect got away with $300.

Chavez went over to help, and the struggle between Chavez and the gunman continued out the hotel’s front door, where the suspect opened fire. Police say Weems fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, driven by Williams. Washington allegedly stood outside the hotel’s front door and served as a lookout.

When officers arrived, they found Chavezsuffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“He was a kind, gentle person and he was looking out for a co-worker who screamed for help,” Chavez’s friend Carla McClinton said.

Chavez’s younger sister Vivian told News4’s Tracee Wilkins that her brother died the way he lived, thinking of others.

Investigators later recovered the gun and torched sedan used during the crime, adding that a tip from the public led them to the suspects. Police believe Weems, Williams and Washington are responsible for other armed robberies in Prince George’s County and Washington, D.C.
