Lesson Title: GOD PROMISES A SAVIOR

Adult/Young Adult Topic: RELIABLE PROMISES

Printed Text: LUKE 1:26-38

Key Verse: Luke 1:31 (NIV)

“You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.”

Source: Townsend Press Sunday School Commentary – 96th Edition, 2016-2017

UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

Our actions, decisions, and even well-being are often based on our trust in the promises made by others. On whose promises can we ultimately depend? Luke recounted the angel’s announcement of the coming birth of Jesus, God’s promised Savior.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

This scripture text demonstrates God knows where and with whom His will can be accomplished. In the divine order of God’s wisdom and choice, Mary was carefully and faithfully appointed to the awesome task of birthing Jesus into the world. Just like God’s request of Mary, He makes supernatural requests of His children every day.

PRAYER:

O great God, we honor and praise you for considering us worthy of your divine calls. We are humbled that you allow us to partake in the ministry to humanity that you began long before the birth of Jesus and that you continue to this present day. We profess our servant-hood to you and we are both willing and available as your divine will has need for us. Give us the faith to respond to you, just as Mary did. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
