UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

People wait with great anticipation for the birth of a new baby. How do they react when at last the child is safely delivered? Luke told the Good News of the promised Savior’s birth and the reactions of the angels, shepherds, and Mary to this miraculous event.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

The world experienced a miracle in Jesus’ birth that would forever alter the course of humanity’s history with God. The birth of Jesus was not just another ordinary birth! The birth narrative of Christ is truly the new birth narrative of every born-again believer. We have that same calling, those same blessings, and the same expectancy. We must lift our heads long enough from the work and toil of this world to be countercultural enough to embrace what God has for us. The text proves to us that we do not have to seek the majesty; God will provide it.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, on this day we celebrate your grace and mercy in sending Christ to earth to be born among us. We thank you for everything that His birth represents in our rebirth with you. There is a posture of humility to embrace and a place of poverty to go to that you expect each of us to engage in so that we may receive your crown of majesty. God, provide us the strength and perseverance to embrace what you desire for us and to go where you desire to send us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
