MY IDENTITY

There is an emphasis in society on the importance of “finding ourselves.”  it seems a valid endeavor.  we need to know our gifts and skills and have an outlet for them: a purpose for living. we need an identity. As Christians, we have one!  First Peter says we are living stones in God’s spiritual temple, royal priest, a chosen people, God’s very own possession.  Before Christ, we were without identity and purpose.

Have you lost your identity somewhere along the way? Maybe you’ve lost your footing as you’ve dealt with daily responsibilities?  Reaffirm who and whose you are.  You are one who belongs to Christ, called out of darkness to shine Christ’s light in this world!

Scripture:

1 Peter 2:10 (NLT) Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people,  Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.

Prayer:

God, I want to reaffirm that I am your child.  I am forgiven, I have a new name, and I am part of your kingdom.  You have called me out of darkness to show others your goodness.  My identity is in you!
