Will and Jaden Smith team up in the futuristic sci-fi film After Earth! It is yet another installment where Jaden joins dad Will Smith on the bigscreen. In this installment Will tells me that it was difficult to play an injured character throughout the movie and Few father-son duo’s have had as large an impact on Hollywood and hip-hop as Will and Jaden Smith. When I asked Will about Jaden growing up and how much involvement he has in his life, he simpy answered ” Not much at all. Not much at all. That’s what I like him to think. [Laughs] I have a group of Men in Black that keep up pretty good”. Jaden with his humor interjected “My dad is 100% aware of what goes on in my life…..he knows everything so there is no sense in me keeping any secrets!”. With all of the success that Jaden has experienced I asked him does he feel he missed his childhood and his response, “Not at all. I go out and skate every night. Hang out with people, skate, hang out with more people, skate to their house. It’s not like I don’t want to go to parties because I need to study and go to college; I just don’t wanna go. If they’re gonna play house music, I’m maybe interested, but if it’s some random place and they’re playing Waka Flocka Flame….” I asked Will if he has ever had to punish Jaden? ” We don’t do punishment. The way that we deal with our kids is, they are responsible for their lives. Our concept is, as young as possible, give them as much control over their lives as possible and the concept of punishment, our experience has been — it has a little too much of a negative quality. So when they do things — and you know, Jaden, he’s done things — you can do anything you want as long as you can explain to me why that was the right thing to do for your life.” The Smith’s latest tag-team endeavor, ‘After Earth’ hits theaters on May 31.
