When was the last time you saw a stranger on the streets in need, knowing the person needed help and you turned the other way. The spirit of God and the example of Jesus has always been compassion, love and meeting the need of your fellow man. It doesn’t matter what color, gender, or belief of that person. Many believers today hear the Word of God, nonetheless they drive to church every Sunday and most times see someone that is homeless or in a need and they just drive by not giving it a second thought. I often ask my self how can it be we live in a country with so many riches and yet so many go hungry and with not one person to hug them or show some type of compassionate gesture. Why tell someone about Jesus and not show his example of meeting the need first? I cannot count the number of times I have given of my possessions and time to someone in need, the times I have given my last dollar to feed a hungry person. When was the last time you saw someones car broke down and blocking traffic and we get out of our vehicle and help to push the vehicle to the side of the road. Every vehicle I purchase I promise God that no matter how famous He makes me, I would always stop to help someone in need. I have followed through on that promise and its funny when I have stopped to help someone out of gas, or seen a mother with kids trying to get her groceries home in the rain, or an elderly person walking in the rain and they realize I’m JC from Praise104.1…they get an absolute emotional boost always joking “you stop for ordinary people?”. As a people of God, we need to be more sensitive to other people’s need!! Stop offering Jesus until we offer Jesus’s love. His love stops to help, His love meets the need and His love never judges but finds the redemption in the situation. When we offer Jesus’s character and behavior, then we can earn the openness of relationship to those we extend God’s love.
