After much anticipation, Sheri Jones-Moffett has released her sophomore solo album, Power & Authority (Live in Memphis)! The 11-track set was recorded in her hometown, with production from the incomparable Myron Butler.
Standouts on the project include the beautifully melodic “Mighty God,” the Percy Bady-penned Milton Brunson remake, “There Is No Failure,” and “Grace of God,” a live treatment of the power ballad from her 2009 debut album, Renewed. The album’s lead single, “Shine,” is another bright spot, with a soaring vamp that leaves you wanting more each time, and the well-treated Thomas Whitfield classic, “Wash Me,” which features Sheri Jones-Moffett’s signature vocals.
Over the span of her career, Sheri Jones-Moffett has been a member of Memphis’ popular Voices of Binghamton, an acclaimed soloist with Donald Lawrence’s Tri-City Singers, and one-half of the popular duo Ted & Sheri.
Power & Authority (Live in Memphis) is a step in that direction, putting Jones-Moffett squarely in her element– a live setting, delivering the signature vocals that has made her such a staple of gospel over her 20-plus-years in music.
